Using the words and music from the song you selected, discuss the evidence of whether the song is a product of popular culture (mass society) or folk culture (local culture) or both.

Use the criteria of popular and folk culture presented in class as the basis for your discussion.
You may, of course, move beyond the classroom material and introduce any other ideas or facts that may be meaningful to your analysis. You may research the group that performs the music, the historical context of the song, the stories that were important in the creation of the song or anything else that can contribute to the overall effectiveness of the discussion. This, however is not required.

Some other things that might be useful in your analysis. A description or labelling of the style of music. The name of the composer/lyricist the instrumentation and the date of composition.
The only thing you need to reference in the assignment is the song itself. However, if you choose to include any researched information, you must cite any sources you use.
