Your final assignment will include a paper about a topic of your choosing that pertains to the course themes of money, image, and culture. In your paper and presentation, you will need to demonstrate how the subject matters fit into the central themes of our course:
Money: the production and consumption of commodities and celebrities in the capitalist economy;
Image: the circulation of symbols, brands, and personalities through visual media and/or social media;
Culture: forms of representation, including entertainment, fashion, comedy, sports, music, social media, etc.
Here is the topic I want to write for my paper:

In this paper, I hope to touch on the gender analysis of popular culture, highlighting the everyday media constructions of gender roles in society, which perpetuate and reaffirm traditional leader gender stereotypes; which explicitly message the lead role as a non-role for women and question their suitability for a leadership role. Woven throughout our daily lives, media insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. Of the many influences on how we view men and women, media are the most pervasive and one of the most powerful. Woven throughout our daily lives, media insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. Thus, women are underrepresented which falsely implies that men are the cultural standard, and women are unimportant or invisible.
References should be cited in the American Sociological Association (ASA) style, with works cited page at the end. Above all, your main task is to demonstrate the sociological significance of your topic by showing how it relates to the themes of money, image, and culture.
