Final Project: Emergency Preparedness Plan

The Final Project Emergency Preparedness Plan must include the following elements:

Introductory Paragraph: Briefly describe the community, its special populations, mitigation challenges, funding sources, and local media outlets.

Descriptive Narrative: (45 pages)

Community: geography, population, socioeconomic status, etc.
Risks and hazards to the selected community.
Leadership positions in emergency management essential for managing an emergency response.
Community leaders whose involvement is essential to the Emergency Preparedness Plan. Explain why their involvement is critical to the success of the plan.
Training methods and best practices to prepare community members and emergency response personnel.
Any preparations needed to respond to a rare or uncommon incident.
Special Populations Section: (34 pages)

Identify and describe two special populations that require supplemental assistance.
Explain any potential challenges the selected special populations might face before, during, and after a disaster.
Explain strategies that would address each of these challenges.
Explain strategies for including these special populations in the preparedness and response plan.
Mitigation and Funding Strategies Section: (57 pages)

Identify and describe emergency mitigation strategies have been or might be deployed in the selected community.
Describe two potential funding sources related to emergency mitigation strategies for the selected locale.
For each potential funding source, describe (1) the key participants and stakeholders and (2) the goals and objectives of the mitigation strategies as they relate to finance and budgeting.
Explain why the selected funding sources are the most appropriate for the mitigation efforts identified.
Identify and explain at least two challenges to accessing funding for emergency mitigation strategies in the locale. Provide at least one strategy to address each challenge.
Media Strategies Section: (23 pages)

Explain how emergency managers might alert the community to risks and hazards.
Explain how the media strategy for the selected community incorporates different audiences (i.e., diverse stake-holders and socio-economic groups across the community)
Explain how the media strategy meets the mission and assumptions of effective disaster communications.
Concluding paragraph: Briefly summarize your plan, how you might adapt it to meet future challenges, and ways to share this plan with other communities.
